He wrote several articles on the role of marriage in society. He had also written about the causes and consequences of change in the American family. He investigated issues of privacy, unmarried fatherhood,\u00a0<\/span><u style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18.6667px;\">cohabitation<\/u><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18.6667px;\">, commitment, divorce and marriage. In 1999, his book\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18.6667px;\"><i>Marriage in Men&#8217;s Lives<\/i><\/b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18.6667px;\">\u00a0won the William J.
